Vinyasa Yoga Classes
Vinyasa is a style of yoga called “flow” for its steady pace of moving in-and-out of postures. These classes offer variations for all levels of practice so that everyone feels challenged, yet never overwhelmed. Vinyasa draws influences from other styles of yoga such as Ashtanga, power yoga and hatha. Get a great mix of poses for strength, flexibility and relaxation. By connecting the breath with movement in a systematic way, we allow the mind to focus on what is happening in the present moment. Vinyasa flow yoga offers a great opportunity to disconnect from stress, worries and fear. The music, the movements and the teacher guide you into a deeper, more subtle awareness of what’s going on internally. This “meditation in motion” is what makes us feel so light and balanced after class.
Vinyasa is Breath to Movement
Another important aspect of vinyasa is how the postures are sequenced. Poses flow seamlessly together and the transitions are smooth. This helps to create a moving meditation which quiets the mind and facilitates a deeper opening in the body. As a result, vinyasa yoga sequence becomes a symphony of breath, movement, and meditation. The synergy has infinite benefits for the body, mind and spirit.
We have a wide variety of vinyasa yoga classes in our video library. Some are faster paced and have a cardio element to them while others are a slow burn with more focus on alignment. You will flow through sun salutations, including plank, chatturanga (low push-up), upward dog and downward dog in all vinyasa yoga classes.
Benefits of Vinyasa
Vinyasa yoga for beginners is one of the most popular styles of yoga today. Students often feel as though they’ve gotten a workout, a deep stretch and a great sweat. It’s practically everything you need to look and feel good rolled up into one class. The non-stop movement is a great distraction for our racing minds. It takes a minute to unwind and let go because of our busy lifestyles. Vinyasa will help you let go of your day as the music fuels the dance-like sequences. By the end of the class it’s easy to relax into savasana, or final resting pose. Vinyasa is one of the best ways to release stress, build strength and increase range of motion.
