The fundraiser at La Jolla Yoga Center for The Sean O’Shea Foundation was a huge success! Carolina Vivas and Amanda McCarroll want to say a big, heartfelt “thank you!” to everyone who participated and gave generously. We would also like to thank DJ Serhat for his superb dj skills, Aja Lee for her beautiful serenade during savasana, and Jeanie Carlstead for hosting this awesome event at LJYC.
The mission of The Sean O’Shea Foundation is to empower youth through yoga, nutrition and optimistic teachings that help to develop life skills to enable youth to take responsibility for their lives, develop respect for themselves and others and have confidence in their own potential. In October, they started the “Yoga for Kids with Cancer” at Rady Children’s Hospital, to bring yoga to the kids and parents in the oncology department. This program is now spreading to the cardiac and cystic fibrosis units at RCH as well. The money we raised at LJYC will be used to further develop this fantastic program. Thank you so much to Gloria O’Shea for the opportunity to do this class. Nothing makes us happier than to do what we love while raising funds and awareness for great causes such as this.
The Sean O’Shea Foundation is named for the San Diego ashtanga teacher and all-around amazing man, Sean O’Shea. He passed away in a car accident in 2006. His work with at-risk youth has been carried on by his mother, family and friends and his legacy lives on.
