Magdalena Patterson is a San Diego based yoga teacher, mother and wife. She completed a Masters degree in Public Policy from George Mason University in Virginia in 2006. It was during her studies that she first stepped on a yoga mat at her local gym. The class was led by an inspiring and free-spirited California woman, and Magdalena was hooked. She moved to San Diego to leave the corporate world behind. She pursued her dream of having a stress free life and doing something she was passionate about for living. She started a successful carreer in the fitness industry as a group exercise instructor and a personal trainer. She completed her yoga studies at the La Jolla Yoga Center in 2010. During her first pregnancy, she went on to study prenatal yoga at the Soul of Yoga Institute in Encinitas, California in 2014. She teaches a prenatal, vinyasa and FlowLIFT at Buddhi Yoga in La Jolla. She also teaches prenatal yoga at Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla.
Magdalena draws inspiration for her teaching from her decade long career in the fitness industry as well as her passion for meditation and deep relaxation. Her classes have a zen, blissful feeling, yet you will still move and sweat a lot. Magdalena holds a special place in her heart for prenatal yoga and believes her pregnancies were the most fulfilling times to practice yoga. She felt free from focusing on just the physical aspects of her practice and was able to feel more present and content. She believes pregnancy and birth reflects the practice of yoga because it requires so much presence in both the breath and body. Magdalena loves to exercise and share that love with new moms to help them get back in shape after baby. She works with the Birth Education Center and Postpartum Health Alliance of San Diego. Her exercise app, MyMommyWorkouts is for new moms. Enjoy a collection of simple yet effective workouts that can be done at home while the baby naps.
